Jan. 20, tlie WSSU community gathered to watch the live televised broadcast of the inaug^iration of the first African American President Barack Obama. Obama, the 44th U.S. President, took the oath of office at approxi mately 12:15 p.m. in Washington D.C. in front of a record crowd of more than two million people. From 10 a.m. to noon, a viewing party was held on campus for faculty', staff and students in Thompson Center "I am glad that I came on campus to watch the inaugu ration," senior, Whitney Rooks said. As Obama appeared on the big screen, students at the viewing party chanted, "Obama! Obama! Obama!" Every time Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, or daughters, Malia and Sasha, appeared on the screen, stu dents applauded shouted. "I never thought that I would see this day come in my lifetime,"sophomore, Michaela Birks said. "It gives me the chills to know that we finally have a black President. Blood is traditionally in short supply during the winter months due to holidays, travel sched ules, inclement weather and illness. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and meet other donor requirements. Source: aabb.org JulcyCampus.com seems to be considering legal recourse against Tennessee State University's ban of it on its servers. Matt Ivester, Duke University graduate, is the Web sites founder and CEO. In a press release Ivester portrayed TSU's ban of JuicyCampus as being in violation of students' rights to free speech. TSU has blocked less than a handful of sites, with JuicyCampus.com being added to the short and hardly growing list. Source: Black College Wire Former WSSU and NBA basketball star Carlos Terry was selected for induction into the John B. McLendon Jr. CIAA Athletic Hall of Fame. A four-year starter for the Rams, Terry ranks third all-time in scoring at WSSU behind only Earl Monroe and Cleo Hill. Terry will posthumously be inducted Feb. 27 in Charlotte at center-court at the Time-Warner Cable Arena on Championship Saturday during the 2009 CIAA Basketball Championship.
